The BackCup© - more than just a mug

The BackCup© - mere end et krus

Since 2007, eAnatomi has dedicated its efforts to designing original posters and models that align with our mantra of 'fascinating and educating'. Posters were a natural area for innovation because the market was completely saturated with foreign posters, which, while good, were developed decades ago in other countries with a language and aesthetic suited to those regions. eAnatomi has introduced over 50 different posters in anatomy, pathology, and anatomical art and continues this work on an ongoing basis.

In recent years, eAnatomi has also chosen to focus on selected niches within the world of anatomy and gradually started introducing products that extend beyond posters, yet still adhere to our mantra. We are now introducing our latest product, which, in simple terms, is a mug, but which is, of course, much more than that.

So, how does one add value to an object whose practical use is widely known and common, and which exists in an endless variety? Here at eAnatomi, the approach naturally focuses on anatomy and its fantastic symbolic content in form, function, and even the mystery of its individual components and its entirety. Our mug is therefore an 'anatomical mug' that draws inspiration from a specific area of the musculoskeletal system, specifically the lumbar vertebrae and their unique shape and indispensable role in keeping us upright and strong. The symbolism is easy to spot and therefore completely natural to incorporate into an object that we all interact with, often several times a day.

We call our anatomical mug 'The BackCup' (d) – a name and design we are so enthusiastic about that we have design-protected it with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office.

The mug is primarily aimed at people who have dedicated their studies and careers to strengthening, healing, and curing others. Secondly, the mug is aimed at those who appreciate art and uniqueness. Those who, even without the symbolism, appreciate the anatomical design of the body – its contours and, to put it plainly, its wild beauty.

With The BackCup, a familiar object has become much more than just a container for daily refills of energy and liquid. The BackCup offers, with every interaction, the opportunity to reflect, admire, and, not least, be fascinated. At eAnatomi, we also know that The BackCup is a unique conversation starter, and that precisely supports our mantra in the finest possible way.

It requires a fascination for anatomy to educate oneself or others, and The BackCup contributes to this, which is an achievement we are particularly proud of.
