Description

This mini skeleton has been developed in a particularly practical size and illustrates the origin and attachment of skeletal muscles using colour.

The small plastic skeleton measures 80 cm in height. The quality of the bone casts is good and suitably solid for general. use, but not developed for violent use in, for example, a classroom. The level of detail on the bones is good and therefore in accordance with the standard within mini skeletons. All joints are held together by metal and/plastic, allowing limited opportunity to demonstrate the natural movements of the joints.

The mini skeleton model is delivered on a removable stand. The stand consists of a white plastic plate at the bottom and a long metal rod on which the skeleton rests.

The origin and attachment of skeletal muscles are marked in red and blue, but are not numbered. There is, on the other hand, access to an app which can be downloaded and which contains the names of the many indications.

Anatomically speaking

Anatomically speaking, the skeleton shows all the bones of the body (including the tongue bone). Cartilage in the chest and teeth in the upper and lower jaw are also included.

The skull can be quickly disassembled and divided into 3 (skull cap, mandible and the remaining part of the skull).

The level of detail on the bones is good and therefore in accordance with the standard within mini skeletons. The scope of "osseous landmarks" includes large details such as the tuberculum majus and minus on the humerus (upper arm bone) and trochanter major and minor on the femur (thigh bone).

Smaller details such as sulcus n. radialis on the humerus and linea aspera with the 2 lips on the back of the femur are not seen at all.

Furthermore, both carpal, metacarpal and finger bones are cast in one piece. The same applies to the feet.

Movement-wise

In terms of movement, the model is not very flexible. As all joints are held together by metal and/plastic, the range of motion is limited. For example, rotation in the knee joints cannot be demonstrated, although both flexion and extension (bending and stretching) are possible.

As mentioned in the description of the anatomy, the hands and feet are each molded in one piece. Therefore, it is not at all possible to move any of the many joints in these regions.

Clinically speaking

Clinically speaking, the mini skeleton model is ideal for understanding many diseases, disorders and disorders in the skeleton.
