Description

This model shows, in great detail, a section of the organs located at the top of the abdominal cavity. The model is both useful for illustrating the interrelationships of the organs, but also the structure of the individual organs.

The model is produced in natural size, has the dimensions 12 x 22 x 23 cm (length x width x height) and weighs 0.3 kg. The model is delivered on a green plastic stand, and the individual parts cannot be separated from each other. The duodenum is partially opened so that the mucosa becomes visible.

The model's structures are numbered and the names appear in a product manual, which is included with the purchase of the model.

Anatomically speaking

Anatomically speaking, this model, with its spatial structure, provides a good understanding of how the organs are located in the abdominal cavity. The model shows the following organs:

Duodenum (duodenum)
Pancreas
The spleen
Ductus choledochus - the largest bile duct that opens into the duodenum

The model also shows how the above organs are located in relation to the largest vessels in the upper part of the abdominal cavity. Among other things, you can see:

A. and V. mesenteric superior
A. and V. splenica
V. porta
A. hepatoduodenal

Several of the organs are partially open, which gives an educational insight into important internal structures. You can see details such as:

Pancreatic duct and accessory pancreatic duct
Duodenal papilla major and minor
Plicae circulares in the duodenum

Movement-wise
Clinically speaking

Clinically, the model is ideal for understanding diseases/disorders such as stones in the bile ducts, splenomegaly, pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.

Furthermore, the model can be used to understand the purpose of imaging examinations in the region.
