Description

This model shows the different tissues of the tongue in a microscopic perspective with details such as papillae, taste buds, nerve supply and musculature.


The model weighs approximately 1.4 kg and the dimensions are 14.5 x 32.5 x 20 cm. The model consists of 4 segments (parts), 2 of which are enlarged in relation to the natural size of the tongue. All 4 segments are delivered together on a white stand (plastic sheet).
Anatomically speaking

Anatomically, the model shows the following:



A segment showing the tissue of the tongue viewed from the dorsal side (back of the tongue) in normal size. Here you can see i.a. papillae, blood vessels, glands and tongue muscles


A segment showing papilla foliata at 10-20 times normal size. Here you can see i.a. taste buds, glands and nerves


A segment showing a taste bud at 450 times normal size. Here you can see details such as taste buds, cell types (including basal cells and intermediate cells) and nerve fibers


A segment which is a very simple overview of the sensory supply of the tongue by the cranial nerves (5th, 7th, 9th and 10th cranial nerves)

Clinically speaking

Clinically speaking, the model can be used to understand disorders of the tongue. Examples are fissured tongue, infections and cancer.



The model can also be used to understand issues related to the cranial nerves supplying the tongue, including movement, sensitivity and sense of taste.

Delivery / pickup

If the item is listed as in stock , it is physically located at our address in Frederiksberg and can therefore be shipped or picked up. When ordering, choose what you want.

If you wish to pick up the item, this can often take place immediately after ordering, but must be agreed with us. If you wish to have it shipped , this will be done via Postnord and often the same day the order is received.
