This educational larynx model with vocal cords also shows several related tissues such as musculature, the thyroid gland, and part of the trachea.


The larynx model is life-size and can be separated into 2 parts (see the pictures on the left and read more about this below) and comes on a stand.
Anatomically speaking

Anatomically, the larynx model primarily shows the larynx with the laryngeal cartilages (blue), the laryngeal muscles (brown), as well as the vascular and nerve supply to the larynx (red and yellow, respectively). The model also shows the two closing mechanisms, which are the epiglottis and the vocal folds (plicae vocales), as well as the two joints (articulatio cricothyroidea and cricoarytenoidea).

On the right side of the model, the thyroid gland (glandula thyroidea) is shown in orange, covering the lower part of the larynx and the upper part of the trachea anteriorly. The trachea, in blue, forms the lower part of the model and is seen with the characteristic "horseshoe-shaped" cartilage rings. On the posterior side of the thyroid gland, one of the parathyroid glands is visible (humans normally have four).

Above the larynx, the hyoid bone (os hyoideum) is seen in a sand color, along with muscles, etc. Although the pharynx is not demarcated on the posterior side of the model, one can still perceive/imagine part of this vertical tube.
Movement-wise

In terms of movement, the throat model is not flexible. You cannot demonstrate movements in the 2 joints.
Clinically speaking

Clinically speaking, the model can be used to understand many disorders such as epiglottitis, vocal cord polyps, goiter, laryngeal oedema, and cancers.



Furthermore, the throat model can be used to understand examination methods such as laryngoscopy and treatments such as throat surgery.

If the item is listed as in stock , it is physically located at our address in Frederiksberg and can therefore be shipped or picked up. When ordering, choose what you want.

If you wish to pick up the item, this can often take place immediately after ordering, but must be agreed with us. If you wish to have it shipped , this will be done via Postnord and often the same day the order is received.
