Description

This hand model looks like it was taken out of a tub from the dissection hall at Panum.

However, it is not. The model, on the other hand, was developed by Dr. Niels Benatar and produced in SOMSO plastic by the manufacturer SOMSO, which is world-renowned for very high quality. This means quality materials, a sense of accuracy and longevity. In other words:

World-class craftsmanship.

The model is created in natural size and can be separated into 6 parts. It weighs 0.83 kg and the dimensions are 18 x 18 x 34 cm (length x width x height). It is delivered on a stand with a green base.

Anatomically speaking

Anatomically, you are presented with extremely realistic tissue. For example, the model's tendons appear white and shiny, while nerves appear matte white.

The model does not "just" illustrate the contents of the carpal tunnel (canalis carpi), extensor and flexor tendons, the various muscle groups of the hand, blood vessels (arteries and veins), nerves, ligaments and bone tissue. You also see details such as the fibrous finger sheaths (vaginae fibrosae digitorum manus) with both their obliquely running fibers and ring-shaped strokes, as well as the "fleshy attachments" of skeletal muscles to bone tissue.

Movement-wise

In terms of movement, the model is NOT flexible.

Clinically speaking

Clinically speaking, this model was created for professionals such as orthopedic surgeons. It is ideal for working with disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), wrist tendinitis, trigger finger/digitus saltans, Dupuytren's contracture (driver's fingers) and much more.
